Romney and Mormons
With a few Mormons currently running for President of the country and prominent Mormon newsmakers like Glen Beck inside news, questions arise about just who the Mormons are generally and what they really believe. Sites where Mormons option such questions, former Mormons interviewed, and the book on Romney serve being a source of some insight into Mormon beliefs--revealing that Mormons are usually more than Donnie and Marie Osmond, the only Mormons several Americans of my age bracket would recognize.
When Mormons are Christians since some claim, do they use the cross? They don't use a cross in their churches, wear the cross, or include it in any of their symbols with Christ. Some Mormons say which it symbolizes death, and they prefer other symbols affirming life. Christians see this being a back door way within the need of a Deliverer for fallen man and for the blood of the Lamb which washes away all sin. Mormons tilt for a works based "what we do" salvation, which is not like scripture. Fruits of your labors may be indicative of your dedication to Christ, but scripture is clear ---works don't save; only Jesus Christ saves. Mormon President Gordon Hinckley said that they do not choose to use symbolic of the dying Christ, but mean no offense to others. Some Mormons say that will Jesus was speaking metaphorically when He said to "take up your cross and follow Me. "
Complete Mormons use something like the blood of Christ with regard to communion? They do not use anything but clear water for precisely what they call the sacrament. They cannot believe that they are actually partaking of the our blood of Christ, but say they will honor His sacrifice. It's administered by teenage "priests" who bless the water and bread and quite possibly younger "deacons" who pass it out in long, formal ceremonies. Christians see this as a way around the need for any saving blood and sacrifice of Jesus, and protest of Mormon missionaries which come behind Christians with foreign missions to change new Christians.
Do Mormons believe that they can become "gods" as inside oft quoted, "As He was, so are people. As He is, which means that shall we be? " They deny that they think they are going to equal to God or even replace God, but they believe they will evolve and become "god like. " Some Mormons say they disavow writings of their prophets about this subject, but others say that belief is still prevalent that they can become gods with their own personal planets, just as they say God is now over this planet--a work breaker for Christians.
Is usually Jesus God? They recognise Jesus as their Savior, but do not feel that Jesus is God the father as mainstream Christians do, but rather a member of the Trinity, a separate being chosen to remain the Savior of the modern world after Satan sought and don't get that role according to Mormon prophets (some sort of deal breaker for Northern Christians who cite John: "In the beginning was The word (Jesus Christ), and also the Word was with Goodness, and The Word had been God"). This is actually denying scripture to Christians--for Christ said He was God. http://www.romney4president.us
